Stack Wants Dallas to Stop Moving With Cardboard

Stack delivers reusable moving bins, dollies and labels throughout Dallas, then collects everything after the move. It may be the smartest way to retire cardboard.

Moving is hard enough before the first cardboard box collapses, the tape disappears and somebody realizes the coffee maker is buried under a dozen identical brown cubes. Stack has a cleaner idea for Dallas: rent the boxes instead.

Stack Moves delivers reusable plastic moving bins, dollies and labels to homes and businesses across Dallas and much of North Texas. The bins arrive assembled, ready to pack and designed to stack neatly. Once the move is finished, Stack returns to collect them. There is no cardboard to buy, no tape marathon and no mountain of flattened boxes waiting for recycling day.

A particularly Dallas kind of moving problem

The concept makes sense almost anywhere, but it feels especially useful here. An Uptown resident may have a narrow freight elevator reservation. A family leaving a Lakewood bungalow may be juggling children, pets and a closing appointment. A move from Preston Hollow to Frisco can turn into a full day of loading, driving and unloading before anyone even begins to break down the boxes.

Stack’s answer is wonderfully direct. Choose a bundle based on the size of the home, schedule delivery, pack the bins and move them on the supplied dollies. The company offers bundles ranging from a studio setup to larger collections intended for multiroom houses. Standard rentals begin with a one week period, and customers can extend the time when a move refuses to follow the calendar.

What arrives at the door

The company’s residential packages include rigid plastic bins, labels and wheeled dollies. The containers have attached interlocking lids, so there is no separate top to lose and no need to seal every box with tape. Stack says each bin is cleaned and sanitized between rentals. Because the containers are uniform, they can be packed securely and moved in tidy vertical stacks instead of a precarious assortment of liquor boxes, produce cartons and whatever survived the last move.

The bins measure roughly 27 by 17 inches at the top and 13 inches tall. That makes them large enough for books, pantry goods, linens and the ordinary contents of a home without becoming impossible to lift. They are made in the United States from recycled plastic, according to the company.

What Stack does, and what it does not

Stack is a box rental and delivery service, not a moving crew. Customers still pack, carry and load their belongings unless they separately hire movers. Delivery is generally to the nearest accessible point, so apartment residents should arrange building access and freight elevator time before the bins arrive. Stair service may involve an additional charge.

That distinction matters, but it does not diminish the appeal. The most irritating part of moving is often the accumulation of small tasks. Find boxes. Assemble boxes. Tape boxes. Label boxes. Repair the box that just split open. Then dispose of everything when the move is finally over. Stack removes most of that ritual.

Less cardboard, less chaos

There is also an environmental argument. A reusable container can make many trips before it reaches the end of its useful life, while a cardboard moving box may be discarded after one or two moves. Stack says its bins can be reused hundreds of times. The practical benefit is even easier to see: less waste, fewer supplies and a deadline that encourages the last stubborn boxes to get unpacked.

For Dallas residents moving across town, changing apartments or coordinating a renovation, Stack feels like one of those services that prompts an immediate question: why have we been doing this the hard way?
